In short
- We collect what is needed to run your account and your links — nothing for advertising, and we never sell data.
- People who tap your links are only counted: date, country and device type. No cookies, and we don't store their IP addresses.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.
Data about creators (app users)
| Data | Why | Legal basis | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account: account ID, e-mail address and sign-in method (Sign in with Apple on iPhone, Google on Android). Apple or Google may also pass your name — and Google your profile photo — to our sign-in provider Firebase; we don't use them. | To create and secure your account | Contract (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)) | Until you delete your account |
| Your links: the YouTube and Twitch addresses you shorten, the video title (fetched from YouTube when the link is made) and the short address | To provide the service | Contract | Until you delete the link or your account |
| Link statistics: click counts per link by date, hour, country and device type | To show you statistics | Contract | As long as the link exists |
| VidHop name and own domain: the name you choose (yourname.vidhop.gg), any domain you connect and which DNS provider it uses (read from public DNS) | To route your links and guide the setup | Contract | Until you remove it or delete your account |
| New-video reminders: the YouTube channels you pick, the latest videos we have seen on them, and a push token for each device where you allow notifications | To send you reminders | Contract | Until you turn reminders off or delete your account |
| Subscription: your plan and its status. Apple or Google handle the payment, and RevenueCat tells us which plan is active. We never see payment details. | To give you the plan you pay for | Contract | Until you delete your account (Apple and Google keep their own purchase records) |
| Share-sheet key (iPhone): a random key that lets the VidHop share sheet create links | To make sharing from other apps work | Contract | Until you delete your account |
| E-mails to us | To answer you | Legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)) | As long as needed to handle your request |
| Reports of a link (vidhop.gg/report): the link, what you write, and your name and e-mail if you give them | To handle the report and tell you the outcome | Legal obligation under the EU Digital Services Act (art. 6(1)(c)) | 3 years, so decisions can be documented |
| Technical logs: time, the address requested, account ID and error details | Security, preventing abuse and fixing errors | Legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)) | 30 days |
Data about people who tap a link
When someone taps a VidHop link, Cloudflare — our network provider — processes their IP address to deliver the page and work out the country. We store only counts per link (date, hour, country, and device type such as iPhone, Android or desktop). We don't store IP addresses, set cookies, build profiles or show ads. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in delivering the link and giving the creator anonymous statistics (art. 6(1)(f)).
YouTube API Services
VidHop uses YouTube API Services to check the channels you choose for new videos and to read public information about videos, such as title, length and whether a video is public. VidHop does not access your YouTube account. By using VidHop you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. How Google handles data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Who processes data for us
- Google Cloud and Firebase (Google): servers, database (EU region: Belgium and the Netherlands), sign-in, push notifications and logs.
- Cloudflare: network, DNS and custom domains.
- RevenueCat: subscription status.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in and payments as independent controllers under their own privacy policies.
Google, Cloudflare and RevenueCat are US companies. Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (Google and Cloudflare) and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and receive your data in a portable format. Write to privacy@vidhop.gg — we answer within one month. You can delete your account yourself in the app (Settings → Delete account); see vidhop.gg/delete-account. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet.
What you must provide
You need an account to create links. Everything else — reminders, notifications, a VidHop name or your own domain — is optional. We don't use automated decision-making or profiling.
Changes
We update this page when our processing changes; the date at the top shows the current version. We tell you in the app about significant changes.
